Every take. Instantly.

Video assist for Mac, in HD and up to 4K. Every camera recorded and slated, any take back in one key, and the shoot on your clients' own iPhones and iPads.

From $49 a day. First day free.

For the people who matter on set

Your clients, in the conversation.
Not over your shoulder.

Abby Monitor puts exactly what you're showing on the director's, producers', agency's and crew's own screens. Everyone you let in, and no one else. Free: on the Mac now, with iPhone and iPad coming soon.

Clients crowd behind the director's monitor.

They watch live on their own screen, anywhere on set.

"Can we see that again?" stops you mid-setup.

Take requests wait quietly until you say yes.

Feedback travels by someone walking over.

Private chats for clients, departments and one to one, encrypted end to end and gone after 24 hours.

Notes end up on napkins, or nowhere.

Notes land on the take at the moment they were written.

A photo of the monitor gets passed around.

Each viewer's name sits on their picture, screenshots are reported to you, and access ends at wrap.

What the abby. is

The whole video assist station.
On one Mac.

Every camera in, every take recorded and slated, any take back in a second, and every monitor on set fed.

8cams

Up to eight cameras

SDI and HDMI capture cards, USB and Thunderbolt video devices, and NDI® and SRT network sources, each recorded to its own file.

4K

HD and 4K

4K over one SDI cable on cards that take it, USB and Thunderbolt devices at their full resolution, and 4K network sources. 23.98 to 60, progressive, PsF or interlaced. A camera at the wrong rate gets flagged.

1key

To play the last take

P plays it on every monitor. Step, loop, slow it down or play it backwards, or play one camera while the others stay live.

1file

Per camera, per take

Picture, sound, slate and notes in one QuickTime movie with a name you can read. H.264, HEVC or ProRes.

Everything you need behind the monitor.
Nothing you don't.

Auto

Rolls when they roll.

Follows the camera's record flag or its running timecode. The top of every take is there.

Slate

Reads the clapper.

Clear reads fill the scene and take, with Undo. If a read is unsure, it asks you first.

Comp

Match it live.

Mix, wipe or key a live camera against an old take or a background plate.

Every monitor

Built around your rig.

SDI and HDMI outputs, a second display and NDI® out, each with its own layout and look, and each one on Abby Monitor too. Route any camera on your video router from inside the app.

Any job

Set up for the work you do.

Film and TV, commercials, documentaries, music videos, corporate, short films, live events, and web and social. Commercials get spot, setup and take, with agency and brand in their own client room.

REH

Rehearsals don't count.

Record a rehearsal without moving the take number. Mark any take a pickup, a part, or a type of your own.

A·B·X

Letters that match.

Give each camera the letter on its body. It follows every take into file names, the log and Abby Monitor.

⌥

Keys you already know.

The industry-standard layout, and every key yours to change. Hold ⌥ to see them, or press ⌘K and type what you need.

1

Add-on.

Every feature in every license. Remote viewing, for people off the set, is the one extra.

Offline

No internet needed.

Your license is checked on the Mac. On-set viewers use the set's own Wi-Fi.

ALE

Ready for editorial.

Every export can carry an ALE log for the edit: circled takes, notes and camera settings, one row per camera.

New in 2.0.5 to 2.0.8

New in recent updates.

Every screen, by name

A thin strip shows each monitor by the person watching it. Drag a camera or a take onto one.

Wrap in one click

Ends everyone's access, makes the session report, the ALE and camera reports, and backs up the job.

Saved carts

Save the whole setup by name, and load it on the next job in one click.

Smart scopes

A small badge appears on a camera only when it clips, crushes the blacks or goes soft. Click it for a waveform.

Take types, suggested

A pickup on the slate, or a slate with no take number, suggests P/U or rehearsal. One click to accept.

Hold Space to replay

Hold Space to replay the last take on every screen, and let go to be live again.

LUTs in one key

Press L for the camera's LUT, or drop a .cube file on its picture.

A second unit, anywhere

Link a second unit to the job, wherever it shoots: watch its cameras, see its status and message its operator.

Output Wall

One to four pictures on any screen in one click. Make one screen the same as another, or flash each output's name to find it.

Plug in and go

Plug in a monitor or an output while the abby. is open, and it offers once to show your cameras there.

the brain

The router page shows a live picture in each box, gives each output a view of its own, and steps through your looks with ⌃⌥[ and ⌃⌥].

Camera originals

Import Blackmagic RAW clips from a card or folder. Each take is filled in from the clip: camera, roll, timecode, lens and settings.

Also in 2.0.8: no Keychain password prompts when the abby. opens, and the main window stays on the screen you chose.

Built-in fail-safes

Built to keep going.
Even when something doesn't.

A crash or a freeze shouldn't cost the set its monitors, its viewers or its takes.

Back in seconds

A guard reopens the abby. after a crash, usually in under a second. Viewers reconnect by themselves.

Takes come back

Every take is journaled as it rolls, in two-second pieces. After a crash or a power cut it comes back with its slate and sound. If the drive fills up, new takes move to the Mac's own drive.

Never mid-take

A real freeze is caught in two seconds, and a Mac going to sleep is never mistaken for one. The app restarts itself only when nothing is recording. Licenses and updates never stop a rolling take.

Checked before the first shot

Preflight checks cameras, formats, the drive, outputs, sound and viewers, and makes a test recording, all from ⌥P.

Coming soon

For people who aren't on set: the live picture and sound in Abby Monitor, from the office or another city.

  • Only people you approve. An invite link opens in Abby Monitor. No VPN. You turn remote viewing on person by person, and off at once.
  • Encrypted end to end. Sealed on your Mac, opened only on the viewer's screen. Our relay can't see it and doesn't keep it.
  • Your set never slows down. The picture goes up once, however many watch. Viewers on the set's own Wi-Fi are unlimited and never count.
  • No surprises. Fifteen minutes before the add-on ends or its viewer limit drops, you're told, and you pick who stays.
